A staff member for the City of Plano said Winter Storm Cora dumped about 3 inches of snow, sleet and freezing rain across the city and prompted an early response from city crews.
The staff member said crews manning 15 trucks hit the streets and “applied a mixture of salt and sand to enhance traction on more than 200 bridges, intersections and any other locations where it was needed.” City facilities crews cleared sidewalks, and the Plano overnight warming station was available, the staff member said.
City staff also said officials provided multiple updates on social media and issued special-edition newsletters to inform residents about road conditions, traffic accidents, facility closures and the warming-station location. Staff members photographed storm impacts and response activities throughout the city.
“It's no secret it takes a team effort to respond to a potential citywide emergency like a winter storm,” the staff member said. “Our commitment is to do what it takes to lessen the impact on you, our residents.”
