Cleveland County Schools recognizes new and renewed National Board-certified teachers

Cleveland County Schools used its Jan. 13 meeting to recognize teachers who have earned National Board Certification or renewed existing certification.
Doctor Valerie O'Kelly, director of beginning teachers and human resources services, introduced new and renewed National Board teachers and asked the board to join her in recognizing their accomplishment. She said the district had six new National Board certificates and approximately 17 renewals.
Doctor O'Kelly named renewing teachers and new certificate recipients during the recognition. Renewals and new certifications named in the meeting materials and remarks included (as read): Anna Watson; Holly Henson; Julie Butts; Maggie McMurray; Julie Hicks; Allison Boyle; Lauren Pepsi; Brian Blow; Lauren Ribbonbark; Tammy Snellings; Jacqueline Paige; Angela Sims; Taylor Eisenbach; Christina Thompson; Heather Acre; Miranda Sanders; Ava Bradley. Teachers who initially received National Board Certification included Matthew Green; Victoria Fortenberry; Christina Robinson; Taylor Davis; and Katie Lemon.
Doctor O'Kelly told the board that the district offers support sessions for teachers pursuing the credential and acknowledged the substantial time and effort required to complete National Board work. "It is a lot, a lot of work, but it's the kind of work that is going to help our children grow," she said. Board members and the superintendent offered congratulations.
