The Wausau Finance Committee approved a preventive-maintenance agreement with Schindler Elevator Corporation to continue scheduled service for city elevators.
Committee members said the prior contract expired and the new agreement continues routine maintenance and emergency response. Staff said service needs include several elevators with outdoor exposure and that the contract specifies routine checks consistent with state requirements. The agreement continues a pricing structure that includes a 3 percent annual escalation; staff said the fee is lower than expected given vendor labor and specialty-skill cost trends.
Alder Gisselman moved to approve and Alder Hinkie seconded; the motion passed by voice vote with committee members saying “aye.”
Staff said the contract language and scope are intended to ensure elevators remain in service and to address specialized outdoor elevators (the county pays for one unit at Athletic Park). The committee did not introduce modifications to the scope and directed staff to execute the agreement.
