The Wausau Board of Public Works on Jan. 14 approved a change order and several final payments for 24th Street projects and accepted a paving license with conditions, keeping multiple construction contracts moving toward closeout.
A Wausau Public Works staff member recommended approval of Change Order No. 1 for the 24th Street Construction Project B, Eau Claire Boulevard, in the amount of $1,838.70. The staff member said the amount covered adjustments to three castings — including an internal communications box described as a "Frontier" box that crews adjusted after unsuccessful attempts to coordinate Frontier's work — replacement of eroded riser rings on two storm sewer manholes not shown on the plans, and abandonment of an unplanned sanitary line. "So we recommend the approval of the change order number 1 in the total amount of $1,838.70," the staff member said.
The board also approved pay estimate No. 9 for the same 24th Street project, described as the final payment other than releasing the retainage. The payment was reviewed and recommended for approval by Kurt Semero and totaled $241,418.50.
Separately, the board approved releasing the retainage for an asphalt paving contract completed last summer, authorizing a final payment of $5,000 to American Asphalt.
The board approved a bituminous concrete paving license for American Asphalt but made the approval contingent on review and sign-off by staff member Anne; the board president said signatures would be held until they received word from her.
All motions on these items were moved, seconded and approved by voice vote.
The actions complete several routine closeout steps for the 24th Street corridor work and free final payments so contractors can be paid once remaining administrative steps, such as retainage release and a staff review of license paperwork, are complete.
