The Festus City Council approved a parade permit request from Tetra's Bar for a Mardi Gras parade on March 1, 2025. The council carried the motion by voice vote after organizers described the planned route, staging and logistics.
A parade organizer representing Tetra's Bar told the council the group expects more than 30 floats and proposed to use Third Street for lineup. Organizers said they had reached out to local hotels for discount rates and planned shuttles and parking, and that Pius (a nearby site) agreed to let participants use its parking lot. The organizer said the event would remain "family friendly" and noted plans for a children's tent and live music.
The police chief confirmed there were no objections from the department to temporarily closing streets for the parade. The organizer said they had a list of adjacent businesses to notify and would finish outreach to the remaining addresses.
The council moved and seconded the permit approval; the mayor called for those in favor to say "aye" and, hearing no opposition, noted the motion carried. Council members asked staff to ensure business notifications were completed and that police and traffic arrangements meet department guidance before the event.
No fees, insurance details or special conditions were stated on the public record during the discussion; organizers said logistical arrangements were mostly in place.
