Festus council approves multiple public-safety and street equipment purchases

A city staff member said the lowest quote for the shoring equipment came from Schulte Supply and that a previously awarded grant covered $7,500 of the cost; the city will pay the remainder. The staff member described the shoring unit as "a pretty ingenious shoring setup" that is inflatable and easy for two workers to move, and said it should make trench work easier.
Council members approved a bid from Luby Equipment to buy three steel plates for the street crew at $8,030, and approved $9,700 to purchase the shoring equipment from Schulte Supply. The City also approved a $36,119 contract with Public Safety Upfitters to install lighting packages and sirens in newly purchased police vehicles; staff said most of that expense was in the budget but adding two extra cars in December will require a budget adjustment later to cover total vehicle equipment costs. The council approved a $14,540.36 purchase of two mobile radios from Motorola Solutions tied to the county radio system and a $28,235.01 purchase of two in-car camera systems through Motorola (the WatchGuard dealer for the area) to outfit the two added police vehicles.
