Supervisors approve claims, leases and multiple purchases in consent business

The Hancock County Board of Supervisors approved a slate of routine claims, leases and procurement items Jan. 6, recording unanimous votes on each item.
The board accepted the docket of claims dated Dec. 23 in the amount of $638,656.33 and acknowledged payroll totals. Supervisors also spread on the minutes the executed lease with Warehouse Services Inc. for a newly completed 30,000-square-foot warehouse (substantial completion accepted in December and tenant occupancy begun). The board approved acceptance of an additional one-year warranty proposed by Twin L Construction for the Fire Tower Road Drainage Project and directed the warranty be spread on the minutes.
Procurement approvals included purchases and contracts for county departments: four 2025 Ford Police Interceptors from Pineville Auto Group for $201,600; security door panel boxes from Craft Masters Hardware for $10,753; Daktech micro ACs for $6,516; an amended Matrix Solutions agreement for video services with a year-3 payment totaling $11,111.50 (board directed the county attorney to remove an unacceptable hold-harmless clause prior to signature); Banks Electric upgrade at McLeod Park for $7,250; and acceptance of multiple annual term bids (portable templates, gravel, signs and related supplies) naming lowest and best bidders as presented.
The board also authorized publication of sealed bids for Hancock County newspaper publication services for calendar year 2025 and solicitation of bids from qualified depositories for county funds. All motions were recorded as carried by all five supervisors.
Why it matters: The actions operationalize contracts and purchases that fund county services and infrastructure; the Matrix Solutions vote included legal qualification (removal of a hold-harmless provision) before final execution.
