Florence in Focus, the City of Florence communications program, announced a series of community events and outreach opportunities starting Jan. 17, including a family bingo night, multiple mayoral fireside chats, and ticket sales for a May 17 tribute concert at Carolina Bank Field.
The campaign of events begins Jan. 17 with a family bingo night at the Barnes Street Activity Center. Admission for the bingo night is one full-size candy bar per person; the announcement said pizza will be provided. Candy and drinks will also be available for purchase for $1 each (cash only). The announcement said Jan. 14 is the last day to RSVP and provided a URL to reserve a spot at flowtownbreck.com.
City communications said that on Monday, Jan. 20—when city offices "may be closed"—tickets will go on sale for Legends Reimagined, described in the announcement as a Michael Jackson and Prince tribute show scheduled for May 17 at Carolina Bank Field. The announcement directed residents to Eventbrite for ticket purchases and event details.
The release also listed a series of mayoral "fireside chats" led by Mayor Barnes to gather community feedback on parks and community centers. Dates and locations given were Jan. 27 at the Northwest Park Community Center, Feb. 6 at Dr. Iowa Jones Park Community Center, Feb. 11 at Maple Park Community Center and Feb. 18 at Levy Park Adult Center. Each session was scheduled to run from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., and the announcement said dinner would be provided.
For reminders, the announcement included a phone number—855-964-3929—and said residents can sign up for text alerts by texting the keyword Hayside to that number. The communication advised people to check the caption links or the listed websites for more information and RSVP instructions.
These items were presented as community outreach and event scheduling; the announcement did not include any formal city actions, funding details, or policy decisions.
