Board approves personnel report, audit and deconstruction bid; adopts February observances

The Central Union High School District Board of Trustees took multiple routine and business actions at its Jan. 14 meeting, approving personnel changes, accepting the annual audit and adopting proclamations for February observances.
The board voted to approve the January 2025 personnel report and later accepted the district’s 2023–24 audit report as of June 30, 2024. Trustees also approved certification of corrective actions responding to prior audit findings.
The board approved the lowest responsive bid for site improvements and phase‑3 deconstruction of relocatable classrooms at Central Union High School. The winning bidder was A and N Quality Builders; the board approved the proposal in the amount of $740,302. Assistant Superintendent of Business Services Marcy Mendoza introduced Jeff Sturdevant, who was presented to the board as the district’s new director of maintenance and operations; Mendoza said Sturdevant brings 22 years’ experience and a general contractor license.
The board adopted two resolutions proclaiming February observances: one declaring February as African American History Month and another designating Feb. 21–28, 2025 as Career and Technical Education month in the district. Both resolutions were adopted by roll call vote as presented.
Motions recorded during the meeting were carried by voice vote or roll call as noted on the agenda. The approvals were routine board business recorded in the meeting minutes; no substantive policy changes were proposed during the items presented.
