Sparks council approves street-patch contract, multiple grants and mobile surveillance trailer

Sparks City Council voted unanimously on Jan. 13 to approve a set of contracts and grant acceptances that the city says support street maintenance, recreational services for people with disabilities, emergency management staffing and policing technology.
The council approved a construction contract with Sierra Nevada Construction Inc. for the 2025 Streetcut Permanent Patch Project for $402,007. Andrew Jankura, transportation manager, told the council the program is self-funded through permitting fees and that the project is included in the city’s 2025 Capital Improvement Program. Amber Stone, city engineer, said the contract requires the contractor to address a required permanent patch within 14 days of notification.
