NEISD Council PTA reports membership growth, advocacy plans and Clothes Closet milestone

Highlights: The council reported 15,513 members (about 87% of its local target of 17,886) and said 63 of the district’s 67 PTAs were in good standing with Texas PTA. Council leaders described leadership trainings, mentor programs for local PTAs and a calendar of upcoming events that include a Founders Day celebration and a Feb. 24 trip to Austin for legislative advocacy.
Clothes Closet milestone: Henry also highlighted the Council Clothes Closet, a districtwide volunteer program providing clothing to students. That program served 621 students in the fall 2024 semester and has now helped more than 6,000 students since 2017 through in‑person and curbside distribution.
Trustee comments: Trustees thanked the council for volunteer work and the meal that council provided before the meeting; several trustees praised the Clothes Closet as an essential support for families across the district.
Ending: Council leaders encouraged board members to promote PTA membership and said the council will continue training, volunteer support and advocacy work in Austin this legislative session.
