North East ISD presents mixed results on student scorecard; credit access growing, state changes complicate career-pathway counts

North East ISD staff delivered an update on the district’s student scorecard, reporting mixed outcomes on standardized tests, expanded access to college-credit options and industry certifications, and concerns about state accountability changes that will alter how career- and technical-education (CTE) pathways count toward the College, Career and Military Readiness (CCMR) indicator.

The presentation, which drew questions from multiple trustees, covered STAR reading and math outcomes, early-literacy goals tied to House Bill 3 (HB 3), CCMR measures (AP, OnRamps, dual credit and industry-based certifications), extracurricular participation and a new statewide mental-health-first-aid requirement for staff.

District staff told trustees that the combined STAR "approaches" percentage dropped 2 percentage points from the previously set goal year; the administration has adjusted longer-term targets and added separate "meets" and "masters" performance goals to the scorecard.
