Council approves grant, equipment and tree‑planting contracts in unanimous votes

Rochester Hills City Council took three ministerial actions at its Jan. 13 meeting, voting unanimously on a grant agreement and two procurement items.
Grant for green‑space invasive species management: The council accepted terms of a National Fish and Wildlife Foundation (NFWF) grant that provides $300,000 over three years for long‑term invasive species management in the city's green spaces. The city will provide matching funds already budgeted in the amount of $375,000 across the same three‑year period. The resolution designates the mayor as the city's authorized signatory for the agreement (NFWF grant ID 0501.24.082905).
Fleet purchase: The council authorized purchase of a compact wheel loader with an eight‑foot snow pusher attachment from Tri County Equipment of Sandusky, Ohio, in the amount of $115,510.26. Staff said the loader will be operated by the parks department to move equipment and assist snow operations.
Street tree planting contract: The council approved a blanket purchase order and contract not to exceed $210,000 with Michigan Lawn Maintenance Inc., d/b/a Sherman Nursery Farm of St. Clair, Michigan, for the 2025 street tree planting program. The project is funded through the city's tree fund with the procurement manager authorized to sign the agreement.
All three motions passed unanimously.
