The Marana Unified School District governing board approved a request to add a 1.0 FTE year‑end Title I paraprofessional position at Roadrunner Elementary School, to be funded with carryforward consolidated Title I entitlement funds redistributed by the Arizona Department of Education.
Staff explained the position will support academic and behavioral needs across the Roadrunner campus for the remainder of the school year. The salary and benefits associated with the position will be covered by Title I funds already available as carryforward. Board members asked about recruitment for a short‑term role and whether a candidate had been identified; staff said no specific hire had been identified and that common recruitment avenues include retired teachers, student teachers and internal referrals.
Why it matters: The additional paraprofessional is intended to provide immediate classroom and behavior support at Roadrunner Elementary using federal Title I funds already allocated to the district. Staff emphasized that continuation of the position in subsequent years depends on next year’s Title I allocations received from the Arizona Department of Education.
Outcome: The board approved the motion by voice vote (Aye). Staff will post and recruit for the year‑end position and report back if continuation beyond the current year is proposed.
