Boulder County swears in officials, adopts 2025 strategic priorities and completes reorganization votes

Boulder County on Jan. 14 swore in newly elected officials, heard statements from county commissioners about priorities for the year ahead, and approved the board's reorganization resolutions and a package of appointments and administrative actions.

The board opened with Chief Judge Nancy Salomoni of the 20th Judicial District administering oaths to Commissioner Claire Levy, Commissioner Martha Luchaman and Jeffrey Martin, who was sworn in as Boulder County coroner. "I will serve with compassion and integrity in this position," Martin said after taking the oath.

The meeting then moved to short statements from the commissioners and a presentation of the board's strategic priorities. Commissioners emphasized two central themes for 2025: preparing the county for an increasing number of climate-related disasters and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. "We are in a very complicated time," Commissioner Luchaman said, urging preparations for wildfire, pandemic and migration-related pressures and encouraging neighborhood-level readiness.
