The Minot Planning Commission on Jan. 7 voted to approve a conditional use permit to allow an expansion of commercial self‑storage at the former Kmart/U‑Haul site at 120th Avenue Southeast, with conditions set by city staff.
City staff told commissioners the application from Americor Real Estate Company would add a new indoor climate‑controlled storage building at the southwest corner of the lot and additional outdoor garage‑style units. Staff said the business plans to phase out its current outdoor parking leases for campers, boats and similar vehicles and provided notices to lessees. Staff recommended the commission adopt findings of fact and grant the permit subject to conditions carried over from Resolution 3544 (2019) and additional requirements for the new construction.
