Arapahoe County commissioners appoint 2025 chair and officers, adopt retirements and pass consent agenda

The Arapahoe County Board of County Commissioners on Jan. 14 made its 2025 leadership selections and adopted two retirement resolutions in unanimous votes, and it approved a 21-item consent agenda.
Commissioner Jeff Baker moved, and Commissioner Jessica Campbell seconded, to appoint Commissioner Leslie Summey as chair for 2025; the board voted aye with no opposition. Commissioner Fields moved, with a second from Commissioner Summey, to appoint Commissioner Jeff Baker as chair pro tem for 2025; that motion also passed unanimously. Commissioner Warren Gulley moved, and Commissioner Jeff Baker seconded, to appoint Commissioner Jessica Campbell as the board’s finance officer for 2025; the motion carried unanimously.
The board adopted a resolution recognizing the retirement of Robert Hill, senior assistant county attorney who is leaving the county after more than 10 years of service. The resolution was moved by Commissioner Warren Gulley and seconded by Commissioner Jeff Baker and was adopted by unanimous voice vote. Robert Hill addressed the board, saying, "It's been an honor and a privilege to work here at Arapahoe County with everyone," and thanked colleagues for their support.
The board also adopted a resolution honoring Cheryl Turnus for her 41-year human services career, including 18 years as Arapahoe County human services director. Commissioner Jessica Campbell moved adoption of the resolution and Commissioner Warren Gulley seconded; the motion passed unanimously. Turnus told the board she was "very, very fortunate to end up here in Arapahoe," and thanked her executive team and family.
Earlier in the meeting the board approved a 21-item consent agenda without any items pulled for separate discussion; that motion was moved by Commissioner Jessica Campbell and seconded by Commissioner Jeff Baker.
All formal actions recorded during the meeting were approved by unanimous voice vote of the commissioners present.
