Lake Dallas ISD construction update: band hall, tennis courts complete; 18 classrooms slated for summer demolition

At the Jan. 13 meeting of the Lake Dallas ISD board of trustees, construction project specialist West Serversal provided a project update on multiple high school construction and renovation efforts, saying recent work includes completion of the band hall expansion and new tennis courts and that the district will demolish and renovate classrooms over the coming summer.
Serversal said work that began in May 2024 finished the band hall and choir renovation in August and that the district completed the civil package of phase 2a and the tennis courts (windscreens installed in January). He told the board that phase 2b is scheduled for completion in the latter part of July.
"We also completed phase 2a, which is basically the civil package of the second phase. We've completed the tennis courts," Serversal said. He described the broader phase 2 scope as including renovation of the fine arts performance hall, green room, black box, first-floor renovation of a two-story facility, the ag building and a new career and technical building.
Serversal highlighted the farm tech building as also housing a tornado shelter and described early work on the ag shop and restrooms. He named members of the project team, including architect Jennifer Workman and job superintendent Robert Cortez, and said district staff such as Molly, Jimmy and David Talbert participate in construction meetings.
On the summer schedule, Serversal said the district will demolish 18 classrooms after the last day of school (he identified May 23 as the last day) and has roughly nine weeks to complete demolition and first-floor renovations before teachers return in early August (Teachers return date referenced by presenter). "We're going to be demoing 18 classrooms this summer," he said, adding the timeline will be tight and team members are working to be proactive.
