Sterling Heights — Connect Macomb, the local chamber partner, presented the city a ceremonial check for $201,478 on Tuesday as its share of Sterlingfest 2024 revenues, city officials said.
City Manager Mark Vanderpool told council the annual festival costs about $700,000 to stage and that partnerships and revenue streams reduce the city’s net cost. "It takes about $700,000 to put on Sterlingfest every year," Vanderpool said, and he noted the city raised roughly $450,000 through sponsorships, vendor fees and revenue sharing. He said the city’s revenue share from Connect Macomb approached $200,000 this year.
Stacy Zarko, president and CEO of Connect Macomb, said the weekend’s record revenues reflected strong attendance and credited the city–chamber partnership for keeping Sterlingfest "the safest festival in Southeast Michigan." Zarko presented a large ceremonial check and said the official check had been mailed; she identified the amount as $201,478.
Vanderpool and council members thanked Connect Macomb volunteers, city employees and sponsors for supporting the event and encouraged continued corporate donations to sustain the festival.
