Florence Cultural Arts Commission reviews master plan materials; takes no action

The Florence Cultural Arts Commission met in a special, recorded session to review materials for a city arts master plan and took no formal action on the plan.
Daniel, chair of the Florence Cultural Arts Commission, opened the special meeting and turned discussion to staff about distribution of the arts master plan and related materials. Porter, a staff member, said the plan and an executive summary were circulated but acknowledged distribution gaps: "Luis did send out the link to the master plan and the executive summary. However, because it came from Luis, it didn't necessarily get to everybody," Porter said.
Porter told commissioners the plan's implementation matrix is unchanged and remains in the master plan. He said the arts consultant and the local design team conducted outreach and that the implementation list contains about "10 or 11" items. Porter also said tonight's presentation and supporting links were sent to commissioners and that staff will forward any missing documents.
Commissioners were advised that the Parks and Recreation advisory board had deferred further review so it could examine the plan more closely. Porter said revisions raised during that review would be incorporated and that the commission would receive any revised plan for consideration ahead of a regularly scheduled February meeting or another special meeting if needed. The group discussed the possibility of adding the item to a filmed retreat agenda so a vote could occur without convening a separate special meeting.
No ordinance, resolution, contract or other formal action concerning the master plan was proposed or adopted during the session. The only formal motion made was a motion to adjourn at the meeting's close. Commissioner Tim moved to adjourn, Commissioner Marlow seconded, and the commission completed a roll-call vote in which all present members voted in favor. Daniel announced, "It will pass unanimously."
