Board approves roofing, elevators, turf and AED contracts totaling several million dollars

The Dublin City School District board approved five operations items including street improvements at Bishop, roofing work at Davis, a multi-year elevator replacement contract, an athletic turf project across high schools, and a districtwide AED maintenance and standardization contract.

The motion to approve items 19A through 19E was moved by Missus De Silva, seconded by Missus Messick and passed 4-0 on a roll call.

Mister Stark, reporting for the Department of Operations, said the GMP for Bishop is about $173,000 and covers street improvements the district must perform, including cutting a median and curb work. He told the board a separate shared agreement to split costs with the city for a traffic light at Carshall Lane will come to the board at a later meeting.

Stark described the second part of the Davis roof work as completing a previous two-part project and including warranty-related repairs identified by Mayes Consulting. He said completing the work would bring all Davis roofs to an age no older than about eight to nine years.

The board approved awarding an elevator-replacement public bid to Otis Elevator for approximately $1,600,000; board materials identify the work as a two-year project to avoid shutting down all elevators at once. The board also approved a turf project recommendation to Mott—s Group for about $8,600,000 to replace or add turf at school athletic fields; the project budget includes an approximately 40% contingency due to project complexity.

Finally, the board approved an AED program contract with Cintas worth approximately $400,000 to standardize equipment and provide preventative maintenance across district buildings.

Board members thanked Mister Stark and his team for the project planning and work to move bond-funded projects forward.
