Board approves consent agenda, delegates WASB votes, adopts policy revision and moves to closed session

The Middleton‑Cross Plains Area Board of Education approved several routine and procedural items during its Jan. 13 meeting.
The board approved the consent agenda — including bills payable, the treasurer’s report, resignations, appointments, retirements and donations — by voice vote. Earlier, the board approved minutes from the Dec. 16 regular meeting by voice vote.
The board delegated voting authority on Wisconsin Association of School Boards (WASB) resolutions for the state education convention and instructed the delegate to vote their conscience; members said the proposed resolutions appeared noncontroversial. The board approved that delegation by voice vote.
On policy, the board conducted a second reading of policy 1‑C‑5. After minor capitalization edits and discussion of citizen complaint language, a board member moved to adopt the policy as written with an added review notation; the motion passed by voice vote.
Finally, the board voted to go into closed session for the superintendent evaluation under Wisconsin Statute 19.85(1)(c). The motion carried on a roll call vote with the following board members recorded as voting yes: Bob Hesselbein, Bob Green, Mari Ginsberg, Katie Frank, Tabitha Hanson, Jim Coursey and Sheila Hibner. The board then recessed into closed session.
