Tiara Moore, a member of the Kent City Schools Board of Education, was elected board president for 2025 at the district's organizational meeting Jan. 14.
The board then elected Dr. Alicia Crow as vice president for 2025. Nominations were made from the board and followed by roll-call votes that registered unanimous "yes" responses from the five-member panel present.
The board also adopted a schedule of regular meetings for 2025. A motion to set dates and times for the year was seconded and approved by roll call.
During the organizational portion of the meeting a member nominated Moore, saying, "I'd like to nominate Miss Moore," and another member seconded the nomination. After the roll call, each member recorded a yes vote.
No dissenting votes were recorded during the organizational votes, and the chair closed that portion of the meeting following announcements and congratulations to outgoing officers.
The board reconvened later the same evening for its regular January meeting.
Looking ahead, the board announced it will begin its regular schedule on Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2025, and asked staff to circulate the full calendar of meeting dates to members for confirmation.
