Krishna Balakrishnan and Uma Balakrishnan, who helped organize the proclamation request, thanked the mayor and council for recognizing the community’s heritage; Uma said the school is marking its 10th year in Bloomington-Normal.
Rajee Vijay, representing McLean County Tamizh Sangam, also thanked the council for the recognition. The mayor invited applause and said the city will celebrate the community at upcoming events.
