Marks told council members that weeks earlier the neighborhood experienced multiple car break‑ins — one vehicle was stolen from a driveway and several others were entered — and that residents had observed a suspicious black sedan parked on Bremont. He said neighbors organized a Fremont neighborhood text group to share alerts and encouraged residents not to approach suspicious people but to call police. “Please make sure people don't approach anybody … call us first,” Marks relayed, echoing the chief’s advice.
Marks also asked the village to contact the Campbell Country Club about downed trees and limbs along Canterbury that have accumulated since recent storms and requested the village seek the club’s assistance in cleanup. He said he had discussed the issue with the village attorney and the council would be reaching out to the country club.
Finally, Marks noted that a newly finished, high‑value house in the village recently sold for roughly $737,000, a sale he said is several times the village average and could affect tax revenue.
Council members acknowledged his comments; the council indicated staff and the village attorney will follow up on the Campbell Country Club tree line and public‑safety outreach. No formal action was taken during the Jan. 14 meeting.
