Board members described Terrell, who died Dec. 21, 2024 at age 92, as a longtime constituent of the Reedy Church District and an active participant in local civic organizations. The resolution recited Terrell’s attendance at Dawn Elementary School and Union High School, her service on county boards including the board of assessors and the board of equalization, and her work with the NAACP and the Dawn Progressive Association. The resolution noted Terrell’s advocacy for the Dawn Wastewater System, which addressed failing drain fields in the Dawn community.
The board read the resolution aloud and a plaque was presented to a daughter identified in the meeting as Mavis. The board chair expressed the county’s appreciation for Terrell’s service and extended sympathy to her family.
