The Caroline County Board of Supervisors elected Nancy Long chair and Clayton Forehand vice chair at its organizational meeting on Jan. 14, 2025, adopted the board’s standing rules and approved the schedule of regular meetings for 2025.
The votes came during the meeting’s opening business, when supervisors nominated and confirmed leadership positions and then moved to adopt the rules the board has used for years. The board also approved the proposed regular meeting calendar for 2025 but agreed to revisit the July meeting date in May because of the July Fourth holiday.
Supervisors opened nominations for chair, nominated Nancy Long and closed nominations by voice vote; the board then confirmed Long. Clayton Forehand was nominated and confirmed for vice chair. A motion to adopt the board’s rules as previously applied passed, and the meeting calendar for 2025 was approved after brief discussion about whether to move the July meeting to avoid the holiday.
Board members also agreed to postpone appointments to standing committees until a future meeting. The chair asked that committee appointments be considered at the next meeting so members who could not attend the organizational session would have input.
The consent agenda was taken up and approved by voice vote. With those items completed the board recessed to handle presentations and then adjourned to its next meeting.
