At its Jan. 14 meeting the Three Rivers Local School District Board of Education approved a series of consent and personnel items, accepted donations and approved finance-related memberships and actions.
Key approved items and outcomes recorded in the meeting minutes and roll calls included:
- Organizational and standing resolutions (items a–g in the packet), including appointing the district public records officer, renewing legal services with listed law firms, and adopting standing authorizations for the superintendent and treasurer for 2025 — approved by roll call.
- Personnel items: accepted the resignation of bus driver Karen Vernon effective Jan. 14, 2025; authorized hiring Ed Fisher as a sub non-CDL driver effective Jan. 15, 2025 (noting required background checks, drug and alcohol testing and training); approved additional compensation hours for Amber Ward for building and district-led team meetings (effective Aug. 1, 2024–July 31, 2025); and approved athletic supplemental contracts for coaches for 2024–25. Specific contract language, required certifications and background checks were noted in the personnel packet.
- Capital and operational items were discussed on the record (signage and gym) but not awarded at this meeting; administration was directed to seek comparison quotes where appropriate.
- Finance items: the board received and accepted the December financial report and monthly reconciliations; approved membership in the Ohio School Boards Association for 2025 not to exceed $7,070; approved membership in the Ohio Education Policy Institute for $1,000; and approved repayment of a 2016 advance in the amount of $8,000 that auditors flagged as an advance between funds that should have been recorded differently. The treasurer advised that the district anticipates about a $2,000,000 deficit for the fiscal year and noted timing of property-tax advances and state settlements will affect final results.
- Donations: the board approved receipt of multiple donations, including $2,000 to Key Club and gifts to the career academies and food services cited in the packet.
Votes on consent and finance block items were recorded on the public roll calls; where roll-call responses were read aloud, members recorded "yes." The board did not vote to award any construction contracts during the meeting.
The board then recessed to an executive session to discuss employment of public personnel.
