The Sweetwater County School District #2 Board of Trustees recognized students and staff for recent musical and theatrical achievements.
Band and choir students from Green River High School were acknowledged after being selected for All-State ensembles. Mr. Kalinski said two band students — Becklyn Sweat, a junior, and Dalen Owens — were selected for All-State; Owens also made the All Northwest Ensemble. Choir presenters named Caitlin Tanner and Peyton Shiner as All-State choir recipients; Caitlin was noted as a returning selection.
The board also recognized student honors from the Wyoming State Thespian Festival. Mr. Skinner presented a list of honorable-mention recipients and All-State thespian winners across categories including acting, musical performance, design, and filmmaking. He said the troupe set a record for the number of All-State awards brought home and that some student films were selected to appear at the Casper International Film Festival.
The board and attendees also honored Mr. Skinner personally: trustees announced that he was recognized as Wyoming Theater Director of the Year and that over $22,000 in grant funding had been obtained to support thespian programming and state festival participation. Board members and the superintendent congratulated the students and staff.
