Superintendent Behringer announces retirement; board approves retirement and hires WSBA to assist superintendent search

Board members acknowledged Behringer's tenure during public comments and then approved a motion accepting his retirement. Following that approval the board unanimously approved a separate motion to retain the WSBA to lead and assist with a community search process for a successor.
Trustees praised Behringer during the meeting: one trustee said they would "miss you" multiple times during the vote discussion. A board member who moved the WSBA motion described WSBA as "a good partner and [they] will absolutely assist to ensure that we have the best process available." The search assistance motion carried by voice vote with no recorded opposition.
The board directed staff to begin the search process with the WSBA; no timeline for a final appointment was stated on the record.
