Board approves $475 to help Green River student attend All Northwest ensemble

The board approved reimbursement of a $300 registration fee already paid and authorized a $175 contribution from board discretionary funds to cover travel and participation costs for student Dalen Owens, who was selected for the All Northwest group after also making All-State the previous year. Mr. Kalinski, who introduced the students, said Dalen "made it to the All Northwest Ensemble, which is being hosted in Spokane, Washington."
The motion to provide the funds was made from the board floor and seconded by Tommy. The board approved the payment by voice vote with no recorded opposition.
The board and school staff noted the district typically provides $175 per student for trips of this type and that the registration for this event was $300; the district would reimburse that registration and apply the $175 discretionary contribution.
