Bill 1580 would authorize improvements to athletic fields at public schools in Talbot County, focusing on upgrades to existing grass fields and addressing long-standing issues raised during earlier discussions of artificial turf.
Bill 1581 would authorize replacement of the auditorium lighting system at Easton High School. County staff said the current lighting dates to a renovation in 1997 and that school theater directors have been borrowing supplemental equipment to support performances; the council noted the replacement had been included in the FY 2025 capital budget.
Bill 1582 would complete an LED interior lighting conversion at the Saint Michael’s campus, finishing the work already under way on the elementary side using grant funds.
County staff said the projects were identified in the capital enabling legislation the council is moving forward. The bills were sponsored by members of the council and will be the subject of public hearings and further council consideration in February.
No votes on these bills were taken at the introduction.
