The Macon-Bibb County Commission advanced a batch of routine items to tonight’s 6 p.m. consent agenda during its Jan. 7 precommission meeting.
Actions moved to consent included the approval of minutes from the Dec. 16, 2024 special-call meeting; the final denial of an alcohol license for Central Pantry LLC doing business as King Food Mart at 635 Walmart Street (the chair said the petitioner’s appeal period expired with no appeal filed); the reappointment of Tim Jones to the Macon-Bibb County Planning and Zoning Commission; and the reappointment of Raymond Wilder to the Macon Pensions and Retirement Systems Division A Plan retirement committee.
Contracts and change orders advanced to consent included a $190,000 change order to the Lake Hobesoftky Campground renovations contract with Warren Associations for additional campground tables and chairs, and a $50,000 increase to the Mead Road Transfer Station purchase order to cover chipping and dumping fees at convenience centers.
Other items placed on the consent agenda included: - A short-term lease with the Macon Transit Authority for 6,967 square feet of space in a terminal station at an annual rate of $107,326.68, with a 2.54 percent increase in 2026 and a term expiring April 30, 2026; the county said the lease will house the information-technology department and was structured as a short-term consolidation rather than a long-term commitment. - A budget transfer of $95,105 (TAG grant funds) to a purchase order for Southeastern Growers Inc. to buy trees and supplies under an accepted grant for county tree-planting projects. - A $300,000 internal budget transfer within the management budget — moving funds from the workers' compensation claims medical line to risk management insurance liability to balance liabilities for workers compensation claims. - Two community development block grants to Rebuilding Macon: $141,000 (for a previously approved award) and $60,000 for a volunteer youth program; county staff described these as disbursement actions for grants already accepted.
Each item was presented with a motion and second where recorded and was announced to be sent to the consent agenda for formal ratification at the evening meeting.
