Housing and homelessness staff outline outreach, CHAS memorial, point‑in‑time count and service coordination

The Urban Experience Committee heard an update from Nicolette Alcletree, the city’s housing and homelessness initiative manager, on outreach, memorial events and upcoming counts.
Alcletree said the city completed town halls and roundtables late last year and is compiling a report of findings slated for distribution by the end of the week. She described attending the CHAS memorial that read approximately 200 names of people who died while experiencing homelessness; she said the reading of the list took more than six minutes for first and last initial pairings and called attention to the scale of local deaths.
Alcletree thanked council members who toured the medically supported respite at Westminster and highlighted a staffing partnership: Providence trained Jules Helping Hands staff to serve as certified nursing assistants (CNAs) as part of the respite support model, a training pathway staff said could help expand workforce capacity for medically supported services.
Upcoming activities include tabling at an MLK resource fair on Jan. 20; the Point‑in‑Time Count from Jan. 21–29 with an associated homeless‑connect event on Jan. 23. Alcletree said Council Member Cathcart volunteered for the Point‑in‑Time Count and invited other council members to sign up; she also said the city will host a table at Homeless Connect for the first time.
Alcletree closed by urging stakeholders to request presentations on roundtable takeaways and said the city is finalizing the roundtable compendium (surveys, materials and results) for publication.
