During committee review of the election-office budget, staff reported the committee had approved $280,000 for election workers but actual costs exceeded that, producing a shortfall of roughly $52,000 tied to part-time and other election-worker expenditures. Committee members asked for more detail and for the elections office to provide an itemized breakdown of overtime, additional precincts, early-voting days, and any unanticipated advertising costs.
One commissioner moved that the committee take no payment action until the elections director provides an accounting and breakdown; the motion carried. Committee members said they would confirm whether any invoices remained unpaid and ensure routine payments such as required newspaper notices had been processed.
No immediate transfers or appropriations were authorized at the meeting; staff will follow up to confirm payments and provide the requested breakdown to the committee.
