Owasso approves $1.27 million purchase of staff laptops and docking stations

Russell Thornton, the district technology lead, told the board the purchase will refresh staff devices that are now in their fifth year of use. "These are for 850 laptops for the employees and 850 of the docking stations...and eight other workstations for the technology team," Thornton said, and added the purchase was planned during prior bond budgeting and is under the amount originally allocated.
Why it matters: replacing aging devices is intended to maintain classroom functionality and support remote or hybrid work when needed. Thornton said the district tested laptop models in classroom scenarios before choosing the units and that the purchase was budgeted in previous planning cycles.
Board action: the board approved the Lenovo quote by roll call and authorized the superintendent or designee to execute the quote.
