Borough says FEMA awards $313,000 for stormwater mitigation; deadline to spend funds in September

Borough Manager Andrew told the council the borough received a $313,000 award under FEMA’s Hazard Mitigation Program, routed through the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency (PEMA), to support a stormwater project.
Andrew said the borough had laid groundwork before receiving formal notice and that staff are largely prepared to proceed. He said the award carries a requirement that the project must be completed and closed by Sept. 10; borough staff had scheduled a call with FEMA to review expense recording and grant requirements.
Council members noted the short spending timeline and emphasized that necessary paperwork and reporting will be completed so the borough can obligate and expend the funds within the grant schedule. The stormwater channel item remains on the agenda until spring seeding and final verification, officials said.
