Redmond council hears CIP update; EV chargers to come online, Evans Creek permit delays threaten schedule

Redmond City Council members received a quarter-four capital investment program (CIP) status update and a look ahead to 2025 at their Jan. 14 study session, where staff reported progress across multiple programs, a near-term finish for several projects and lingering permit and connectivity problems that could delay work.

City staff told the council they completed six of eight projects slated for 2024 and expect the electric vehicle charging stations to be fully operational by the end of January, with the 10,000 block of Avondale scheduled to wrap up in February. "They are in the parking garage and ... they are for our growing EV fleet," said Steve Gibbs, Capital Construction, explaining the stations are currently available to city fleet vehicles, not the public. Gibbs and other staff said vendor connectivity issues have left roughly 12 chargers active and a modem/gateway shipment should bring the remaining units online by month’s end.
