Board assigns liaisons to local chambers, advisory committees and school partnerships

The Jefferson Union High School District board discussed and filled liaison assignments for the year, designating trustees to represent the district to city and county partners, school partnerships and advisory committees.
Deputy Superintendent Tina Van Rapphorst reviewed the list of opportunities and the estimated meeting frequency for each liaison role, noting some committees meet frequently and others are "as needed." The roles covered local chambers of commerce (Daly City/Colma, Daly City, Brisbane, Pacifica), city–district two-by-two meetings, the district advisory committee (LCAP review), career-technical education (CTE) advisory, the Daly City Youth Health Center advisory board, student advisory council, facilities subcommittee, educational housing corporation and a newly formed sustainability committee.
Trustees volunteered for several positions during the meeting. Trustee Jerome agreed to serve as a liaison for the Summit Shasta connection. Two trustees volunteered to represent the district on the district advisory committee to review the LCAP in the spring; the board recorded Jerome and Trustee Andy as those volunteers. Trustee Sherette said she would continue as the district representative to the county CTE advisory meetings. Student advisory council liaisons will include trustee representation on the biweekly council; trustees Jerome and Andy will continue involvement. The board also discussed a newly formed Sustainability Committee that currently meets twice a month and plans to move to monthly meetings; a trustee indicated interest in serving as a liaison to that committee.
Van Rapphorst emphasized that many of these assignments are occasional and intended to provide a designated contact when partners request district representation. Several trustees stressed members should not be over-committed and that some committees only require attendance at occasional events rather than regular meetings. The board did not take a formal vote on these assignments; sign-ups were recorded during the discussion and will be reflected in meeting records.
