Several aldermen said naming requests have been rare during their terms and argued a standing committee is not warranted. One alderman said if staff prepare an application and document criteria, the city administrator could research requests and bring suitable nominations to the board for a vote.
Next steps
The administrator said staff will place the item on a study session agenda to allow more in‑depth discussion and return with a recommended procedure once the board provides feedback.
