The department reported it received 181 new applications across a range of case types — from comprehensive-plan amendments to minor technical amendments — and processed 122 of those during the year. Growth Management staff said those totals do not include projects still in process that were submitted in prior years. The department said its planning staff of 15 processed 7,486 permits and handled thousands of miscellaneous activities and that its code-compliance team of 10 addressed a heavy caseload during the year.
Department leadership credited the completion of the Land Development Code update as the division’s major accomplishment for the year and noted that implementation required updates to internal processes, permit software, and staff procedures. Staff said the code and permitting processes are iterative and that they will continue to refine procedures, including follow-up meetings with the development community to address implementation issues raised since the code's adoption.
Board members thanked staff for the report and praised the department’s workload management; no action was required on the report.
