Committee reviews Main Line Greenway signage, active-transportation draft and compost pilot

The Narberth Public Health and Safety Committee reviewed several routine updates, including proposed signage for the Main Line Greenway, a forthcoming active-transportation draft from the county planning commission, and early work on a community composting pilot.
Public works staff Jeff said prototype signs for the Main Line Greenway are ready and that production would take about two to three weeks once the graphics and coloring are approved. The committee agreed staff should coordinate with Lower Merion Township and the local cycling club on sign design and timing.
Committee members reported the Montgomery County Planning Commission will provide a draft active-transportation network on Jan. 15 with an interactive map and memo describing recommendation categories; municipalities will have an opportunity to review and submit feedback, after which steering-committee revisions are expected. The committee also briefly discussed a potential community composting program and said staff would return with recommendations and cost estimates.
Why it matters: The items support walking, biking and stormwater/street-improvement planning across Narberth and neighboring Lower Merion Township and will guide near-term public-works projects and community outreach.
