EAC plans update to Narberth greenhouse gas inventory as midpoint check on climate plan targets

The Environmental Advisory Committee agreed to update Narberth’s greenhouse gas (GHG) inventory as a midpoint check toward the community’s climate targets.
Committee members said the inventory, which was assembled as part of the 2020 climate action plan, compiles emissions across municipal operations, residential and commercial energy use and transportation. The EAC plans to contact the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission (DVRPC) to ask whether municipal-level energy and emissions data have been updated since the original inventory and to use U.S. Census American Community Survey commuting data to refresh the transportation component.
The objective is to reuse the original climate action plan spreadsheet and update the input numbers so charts and progress metrics refresh automatically. The committee noted that DVRPC is the primary source for municipal energy data; if DVRPC cannot provide updated municipal-level numbers, the EAC will search other data sources or apply standard estimation tools for fuel use and vehicle miles traveled.
No formal action was required; the EAC assigned the outreach to DVRPC and work to a named member for data compilation and spreadsheet updates.
