The Robertson County School Board on Jan. 13 approved a balanced midyear budget amendment totaling $951,964 and directed staff to submit the amendment to county finance and the county commission for final approval. The motion passed on a 6-0 vote.
Board members heard staff describe the amendment as a “cleanup” that adjusts several revenue and expenditure line items to address midyear budget pressures. The staff presentation listed new revenues that include state monies and rebates, and said the amendment would reallocate $951,964 across affected accounts.
The staff presenter told the board that revenues are coming in slower than projected in some categories, with sales tax receipts notably below forecast. The presentation included several figures (for example, “in 2024, 46,300,000 or 33% of our budget” and “expenditures at 53,100,000 or 37% of our budget”) as part of a broader summary of year-to-date receipts and expenditures. The presenter said electricity, diesel fuel, gasoline, salaries and insurance were among the categories being monitored closely.
Board member Joshua Floy moved the amendment; a second was recorded but not named in the meeting transcript. The board voted 6-0 in favor.
The board packet notes the amendment is balanced and staff said the district will carry the approved changes to Robertson County finance and to the Robertson County Commission for their review and action.
The board did not set an effective date for the changes during the meeting; staff said the next step is transmission to the county-level reviewers.
