The Saco City Council granted a renewal Jan. 13 for a special entertainment permit for Riverwinds Farm and Estate, doing business as RW Events. The permit will run concurrently with the venue’s liquor license.
Councillor Edwards moved to open the public hearing and, after no public testimony, moved to close the hearing and grant the renewal. The motion to grant the renewal was seconded by Councillor Johnston. On a roll‑call vote the council approved the renewal 7‑0.
Councillor Hatch noted the city’s code‑enforcement memorandum that confirmed compliance with contract‑zone provisions, including a limit on self‑sponsored events. The memo indicated the venue had not exceeded the contract‑zone limit (12 of 20 permitted self‑sponsored events had occurred) and confirmed restroom provisions in the contract zone had been addressed by the property owner, the council was told.
Councillor Johnston asked that, going forward, any special‑entertainment permit presentations include police dispatch or enforcement complaint records if available, so the council can review public‑safety and enforcement history as part of renewal decisions. No amendment was made to the renewal; it passed as presented.
