The Port Washington Board of Public Works approved two task orders with Strand Associates: a $120,000 contract to prepare a water system master plan and a $25,000 task order to assist with updating the city’s sanitary sewer service area.
Dan and Roger, public works staff, told the board the water master plan will use a hydraulic model completed last year to evaluate booster stations, water towers, distribution zones, storage and how future development may affect system flow. The plan will also address service-line material identification to support compliance with lead-and-copper rules and help the city sequence main and service-line replacements over the next 10–13 years.
Roger said the sewer service-area update is timely because proposed developments — including Newman and other sites along Sauk Road and I-43 — sit outside the current service area and staff needs to confirm what the city can serve, when treatment capacity would be reached and whether coordination with neighboring jurisdictions (for example Saukville) is required. Staff said Sewer Pack is working on an amendment for one proposed development; the Strand task order will support a broader citywide update.
Board members asked that draft recommendations intended to inform the 2026 budget cycle be delivered in time for the budget process; staff said they expect initial recommendations by April or May. Both task orders carried by voice vote.
