Temple ISD approves targeted improvement plan for Ray Allen Elementary

The Temple ISD Board of Trustees approved a targeted improvement plan for Ray Allen Elementary during the Jan. 13, 2025, board meeting. The plan was presented by Dr. Adams and approved by motion of Mrs. Cook, seconded by Mrs. Myers; the motion carried.
District staff said Ray Allen was identified under state accountability laws as a campus needing comprehensive support because of performance in the closing-the-gaps domain, which reviews subgroup outcomes. Dr. Adams said the campus will focus on strengthening instructional leadership and teacher leaders, improving lesson design to support student discourse and deeper thinking, and maintaining current curriculum choices.
The plan keeps the campus's current curriculum (STEMScopes, Texas Math, and Amplify) and calls for monthly school support meetings and frequent campus visits. Dr. Adams told the board that district staff including Dr. Watson and Dr. Rogers will provide weekly on-campus observation, PLC support and feedback. Staff also reported that parents surveyed during a holiday event gave positive feedback on the curriculum and the proposed focus.
Board members approved the plan as the required two-year improvement strategy for the 2025'26 school year and directed staff to continue monitoring and reporting progress to the board and the agency.
