Local organizers on the commissioners’ court agenda presented details this month for the Smithsonian Institution’s Museum on Main Street exhibit “Crossroads: Change in Rural America,” scheduled to open Jan. 25 at the new Aransas County Community Center in Rockport.
Jennifer Day, who led the presentation with partner groups including the Rockport-Fulton Chamber of Commerce, the Aransas County Historical Society and the Texas Historical Commission, said the exhibit will run at the community center for six weeks and will include coordinated programming at nearby historic venues. The opening day will include a ribbon-cutting and a line-up of local and regional dignitaries, she said.
