Commission appoints career service council member, names UAC delegate and posts board assignments

The Board of County Commissioners voted to appoint a member to the county—s Career Service Council and to name a county delegate to the Utah Association of Counties (UAC) during the Jan. 14 meeting.

On the Career Service Council appointment, a commissioner moved to appoint an applicant described in the meeting in two different ways: the motion referenced "Lund Lease," while county staff asked "Ms. Golin" to stand so attendees could meet the appointee. The appointee was described in the meeting as a school-district Human Resources employee who will serve a three-year term through July 2027. The commission then voted with affirmative votes recorded on the record; the appointee was thanked and told she was "now officially on the board."

Separately, the commission moved and voted to appoint Sonia Norton as the county—s representative to the Utah Association of Counties board of directors. The motion to appoint Norton passed with recorded affirmative votes.

The commission also announced its delegation of boards and committee assignments for the year, listing in open session the portfolios and outside boards assigned to each commissioner. Assignments included airport, economic development, emergency management, public lands, flood control, health and human services related boards, and regional and national associations such as the National Association of Counties. A commissioner noted the full assignments would be posted on the county website for public review.

The meeting record contains inconsistent naming for the Career Service Council appointee (the motion used one name while staff identified another). The transcript reflects that the appointee was present and sworn in during the meeting, but the record should be checked against the signed appointment paperwork for the official spelling and identification of the new member.
