District holds required public hearing for 2023–24 Texas Academic Performance Report; no state ratings issued

Burleson Independent School District opened and closed a public hearing Jan. 13 on the executive summary of the district’s 2023–24 Texas Academic Performance Report (TAPR), a required annual presentation of academic and financial information.
District staff told the board that the Texas Education Agency has been enjoined from issuing accountability ratings for the second consecutive year. As a result, the district and every other district in Texas currently have no state-issued ratings for 2023–24. The district remains accredited, staff said.
The district said printed copies of the complete BISD annual report will be available at central administration and campus front offices and will be posted on the district website. The packet for the public hearing covers required items including the TAPR executive summary, financial reports, campus performance objectives, incidents reporting, and information on House Bill 3 requirements for early education and college, career and military readiness.
Board members and staff described much of the data as familiar material that has been shared at prior meetings; staff noted that the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board’s postsecondary performance data may be released soon but was not available at the time of the hearing.
Ending: The board closed the hearing after taking public comment (none presented) and proceeded to the remainder of the agenda.
